Blandford, Nova Scotia

Premium Atlantic
Lobster.

Harvested from Nova Scotia's Coldest Waters.

Rooted on Nova Scotia's South Shore

Deep Cove Ocean Products operates from Blandford, a fishing community on the Aspotogan Peninsula — where Mahone Bay meets the open Atlantic. The peninsula takes its name from the Mi'kmaq word meaning 'where the seals go in and out,' and its waters have sustained fishing families for generations. Our operation sits at the heart of Lobster Fishing Area 33, one of Canada's most productive lobster grounds.

What began as a local lobster pound has grown into a federally registered, refrigerated live holding facility and processing plant — built to serve wholesale and export markets around the world. In 2024, we were honoured to receive the Nova Scotia Innovation Development Award in recognition of our investment in modern processing technology, energy efficiency, and operational excellence.

We're proud to remain independently owned and deeply connected to the community that built us. Every lobster we handle passes through the hands of people who understand these waters — because they've worked them their whole lives.

Cold Water. Hard Shell. World-Class Quality.

Nova Scotia's Atlantic waters are among the coldest lobster habitats on earth. That cold produces harder shells, firmer meat, and a sweeter, cleaner flavour that chefs and buyers around the world seek out by name.

Hard-Shell, Fully Meated

Dense, hard-shell animals with the highest level of meat per pound found in any of the lobster fishing areas — arriving alive and vigorous anywhere in the world.

Sustainably Harvested

MSC-certified fishery with limited-entry licensing, trap limits, and protection of egg-bearing females.

Modern Facility. Uncompromising Standards.

Our Blandford facility is a federally registered, refrigerated live holding and processing operation purpose-built for the demands of global seafood markets. Recent $4.7 million capacity expansion upgraded our processing equipment, increased holding volume, and reinforced our ability to meet the quality and food safety standards required by buyers worldwide.

We have been recognized by Efficiency Nova Scotia as a leader in energy-efficient operations within the lobster industry — reducing our environmental footprint while maintaining the controlled cold-water environments that keep our lobster in peak condition from tank to shipment.

The Aspotogan Peninsula

Blandford sits on Nova Scotia's Aspotogan Peninsula, where the cold Labrador Current meets the Atlantic shelf. These are among the most pristine and productive lobster waters on earth — home to Lobster Fishing Area 33, part of the province's legendary South Shore fishery. The name Aspotogan comes from the Mi'kmaq, meaning 'where the seals go in and out' — a coastline shaped by the sea, and the people who've fished it for centuries.

Andy and Riley — father and son, Deep Cove Ocean Products

Three Decades. Two Generations. One Standard.

Deep Cove Ocean Products was founded over 31 years ago by Andy, who built the operation from the ground up on Blandford's working waterfront. What started as a single lobster pound has grown into one of Nova Scotia's most respected live holding and export facilities — a transformation driven by decades of hands-on experience and an unwavering commitment to quality.

Today, Andy's son Riley works alongside him, bringing the next generation's energy and ambition to a business built on his father's reputation. Together, they combine deep institutional knowledge of these waters with a forward-looking investment in modern infrastructure, expanded capacity, and new market relationships around the world.

This is still a family operation — and that's by design. Every decision runs through people whose name is on the business, whose community depends on it, and whose livelihood is tied to the quality of every shipment that leaves the dock.
